Priesthills Nurseries welcomes children from 6 weeks to school age, offering age-appropriate learning environments that encourage growth and development across all areas.

Who We Are

Founded in 1984, Priesthills has a long history of providing high-quality childcare. Our leadership team comprises:

Sarah Payne – Managing Director

Sarah is a level six qualified Early Years Professional. As a child, Sarah grew up living above the Station Road nursery and later she loved to help look after the children during school and university holidays. Outside of nursery, Sarah is a mum to two children – Chloe and Alex and alongside her family enjoys spending time outdoors and caring for their animals including dog Bonnie and horse Rosie.

Catherine Walker (Cat) – Childcare Director

Cat is a qualified Early years Teacher and she leads the curriculum across the nurseries. Cat also grew up within the nursery and spent a lot of time working there throughout her teen years. Outside of nursery, Cat is mum to Jack, Sylvia and Henry who all play rugby at the local club and where Cat also plays for the women’s team – the Hellcats.

Gemma Perrin – Area Manager

Gemma joined the nursery in 2000 as a newly qualified practitioner, over the years Gemma has developed her skills and grown through the nursery taking on many roles from Senior Practitioner, Deputy Manager and manager. Gemma then went on to support in the establishment of both the Nutts Lane and Burbage sites before becoming Area Manager. Gemma has a level 3 qualification in Early Years, a level 3 SENCo qualification and is currently studying for her level 5 diploma. Outside of Nursery, Gemma enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, walking with her dog, reading a visiting new places.

We are proud to create an environment where children learn through play, discovery, and guided experiences, all within a safe, supportive, and curriculum-focused environment.

Our Philosophy

We believe that early childhood is a critical stage for nurturing confidence, curiosity, and independence. By blending indoor and outdoor learning, children are empowered to explore, take risks safely, and develop the skills and mindset needed to thrive in school and life.

  • Secure, family-focused environments – with CCTV throughout (for internal use only), fob-entry systems, and robust data protection procedures in line with Famly guidelines; our staff receive thorough training to ensure privacy and safety are always maintained.

  • Welcoming, well-designed spaces – that feel homely and comfortable, with areas for quiet time, creative play, and group activities.

Every detail has been created with care, from the way we design our rooms to the way we build relationships, ensuring children have the very best start in a nursery that feels just like home.

Our Baby Room is a peaceful, welcoming space where your little one can feel safe, happy, and supported. We focus on building secure attachments and caring for each baby as an individual. Routines are guided by your child’s needs and your family’s schedule, helping them feel settled and secure. Every cuddle, feed, and playtime is an opportunity to support early development. Through our Body, Heart, Mind, and World approach, we encourage curiosity, comfort, and the foundations for learning, all at your baby’s own pace.

At Nutts Lane, Woodland School allows children to connect with the natural world as part of their learning. Outdoor exploration encourages curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.
